Lifts in Operation
A cold front will introduce a persistent period of cold early winter weather conditions. Abundant snowfalls from the south will occur at least around the main Alpine ridge throughout the upcoming days. For the moment, however, the weather will slightly calm down around midweek, although a low over North Italy will marginally brush against our area. With a mix of sun and thicker, partly low-stratus clouds unproductive snow showers are only an issue on Thursday afternoon. At the same time, the stream ahead of a new very strong low-pressure activity over West Europe will turn to the south. A southerly foehn wind will spring up which will stormily increase on Friday. At the same time, precipitation will approach from the south which will probably spread from the main Alpine divide to the north side of the Alps. Moreover, the foehn wind will decrease during the upcoming weekend, consequently the temperatures will remain rather cold. The snow line will mostly range around 1000 m above sea level. Nevertheless, the weather models generally suggest that the details are still uncertain from Friday onwards.
